There are several Web 2.0 tools on the Internet that are free for us to use; every minute a new tool will appear. Tools and websites in all the different categories can be used for teaching, learning information and media literacy. The Web offers so much information that students may find themselves a little overwhelmed. There are tons of documents and images at it might be a little hard for students to check and collect reliable sources. It is important to teach students powerful search strategies so they can manage this challenge, searching material that is appropriate and reliable.

VoiceThread offers many benefits for students. The commenting feature is particularly beneficial for classes. Students can receive feedback from people around the world on their published work. Teachers can also use VoiceThread as an effective assessment tool to see if students understand concepts. This tool is also beneficial for any class project, group work, or any subject. VoiceThread allows students who may not like to participate in a class discussion, feel more comfortable with sharing their ideas and their work.

Description: Edmodo is an excellent tool beneficial for teachers, students, and parents. Edmodo offers communication, collaboration, and coaching tools to K-12 schools and teachers. This site has different groups where teachers can share and build their professional network. The Edmodo network enables teachers to share content, distribute quizzes, assignments, and manage communication with students, colleagues, and parents. It is free for teachers; you can create your classes and give the code to students and parents to sign up; it is like having your virtual classroom.

The last item is so important when working within a group where students rely upon their team members to accomplish their assigned tasks on time. Creativity to design appealing lessons and activities are key to maintain students engaged.
