One of the highlights of last week’s meeting was how my group worked and collaborated to accomplish our tasks. We used a google doc to work, add, and edit a document; I must say that it was amazing to interact with all the members of my group from different locations in United States while typing and working on the document at the same time. One of the challenges I observed was the time we spent typing. In my last class we used Skype without video because not everyone felt comfortable with the feature and it was a success. Perhaps, I will recommend Skype for our next meeting.
A unique source of learning for me was the analysis of the data during the meeting, the collaborative group work using the protocols, and the creation of exploratory questions that will help to determine what is working and what can be done differently to get better results. I have learned that using this “Data Meetings”, allows teachers to be involved in planning for every student’s academic performance. By sharing responsibility as a team, more educators are accountable for student progress and aware of the diversity of needs among students.
